Rear Seating.
Just been having a quiet ponder, yes it's a slow day at work, and got to thinking about a four seater. I know the locost has been done in the
four seat variety for those wishing to fit more than one tottie in the car at the same time (please no one point out the flaw in this logic I'm
trying to ignore it in an attempt to live in blissful ignorance).
ANYWAY I got to thinking about seating plans and I remember a friend of my parents from my youth had a van with seats in the back sideways on if you
know what I mean.
Does anyone know how this would be viewed by Mr SVA man? I was thinking two seats back to back with the trans tunnel between them.
Who the f**K tightened this up!

If the seats face the tunnel, where do you put your feet?
Better to have forward facing seats, especially with the acceleration a locost can make. Young children (I take it that you mean THAT kind of tottie)
don't have long enough legs to worry about foot room.

No idea what the SVA man would say, but surely the seats could be added later to avoid complications. The only car I can think of which is in current
production with inward facing rear seats is the Land Rover Defender, but the first and second generation Discovery had inward facing child seats in
the boot space so the principle must be OK.

I think it might cause complications with the registration, insurance, etc. - these would definitely need to be changed - not sure if you would
need the car to be re-inspected. In know there is something in the SVA manual about sideways seats and I think it depends if they are for occasional
use or not

I did wonder about insurance, but is there anything on the registration of a car which says how many seats it has? When insuring the car, particularly
as it is home built, just tell them it is a four seater.

I'm sure that I recall a question on the SVA and registration forms that asked how many seats the car had...

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding this one...
I think you're crazy for thinking about sticking children back there! As for adults able to made a conscience decision to jump in the
back...well, I think their knees would be by their ears.

Does anyone have the old "monospares" book, from about '98, the blue one?
I can't find mine and I'm sure that's got some bit's about the four-seater that was made then.

Ok I think a few people have got the wrong end of a stick here.....
I am NOT building a 7.... once finished I'm hoping it will look more like an MR2 or Elise.
I was thinking of putting the seats in faceing outwards.... backs together if you see what I mean.
It would only be for the occasional use, by kids (I don't have any (I don't have anyone to gestate them either)) but I do have several
friends that do.
Mostly as I said it was just idel speculation during a dull day at work.
Who the f**K tightened this up!
