securing exhaust shield

Any ideas for securing the headshield to the silencer. Is an MK silencer coming from a fireblade engine. I am interested in what type of spacers etc. between silencer and shield. David. PS A drawing would be great.

the way it is normally doen it to rivet U shaped brackets on the inside of the shield then use a long jubilee type clip running through the U's and around the silencer. pretty sure THE BOOK shows photos of this.

...or not bother with a shield at all, like most people (or many, anyway)
