Suede or leather steering wheel?

I am planning on using a Momo steering wheel, but unsure whether leather or suede would be the better choice for a car used both on track and on the road - with and without gloves. Advantages / disatvantages? Or is it only the looks that make them different?

I've had both!

My first wheel was suede - gives a good grip and nice and warm. Downside is that it can get stained and scruffy (I refurbished mine with a suede brush on one occasion).

My current leather one isn't quite as 'grippy' but still absolutely OK. It doesn't get as grubby, and can be wiped down if requred. Can be a bit cold when first held on a chilly day.

In an open car something more water proof is a better bet.

Leather. Unless you're going to use gloves every time you drive, the oil from your hands will eventually mess up suede. And, as stated above, suede ain't waterproof.
