B(TD)EC ... Bike Turbo Diesel Engined Car
Hello,
Just found that : http://www.neander-motors.com/motorbike/en/index.php
and thought it would be the "perfect" engine for a locost
1430 cc
94 bhp at 4200 rpm
175 Nm at 2600 rpm
consumption : 3 L / 100 km (he he ... that's lo(w)cost!)

I can think of many reasons. 94bhp from 1400cc is one for a start.... 
The only place for that motor is back in the dumper from whence it came!

I think its a great idea, fit 2 and wind up the boost!!250bhp
loads of torque, I wonder what it revs too?

Not much point though, the bike weighs nearly 300kgs and the engine is probably half that, so you could easily get double the power from the same
weight of car engine!
I know it wasnt suggested 100% seriously but there is a point with engines like this and the Goldwing etc when they are only considered because it
originally lived in a 2 wheeled mode of transport meaning you can call your car a BEC, rather than the engine actually giving you any of the benefits
that a proper bike engine gives you. This engine crosses that point and carries on going for quite some way IMHO!

Enfield India did (may still do) a diesel engined bike.
Unfortunately it only had about 8 bhp. Then again it did about 300mpg
Now that would upset Gordon Brown!!!!

Enfield Robin is at least a pretty little bike, power to weight ratio wouldn't be that different....
