Just how comfy are GRP seats?
Can you please give me your opinions on how comfy your GRP seats are? Dont look it to me, but they are so cheap!

opinions differ, but i find mine are very comfy. i often find myself just sat in the garage in them pondering stuff.
quite cold at this time of year, but it does inspire you to get on and do something.
it may depend on build. if you're skinny, they might not be so comfy, but i'm 5'11"ish, and 13 stone and i'd happily
have some in my living room.
mine are the MK ones btw.

if youve never been in them before
for the first 10 mins they take a bit of getting used to
I did about 3000 miles in mine in two months
loved it

If the seat will fit, look for seats with "rolled" edges.
It stops the edge of the seat cutting into you during hard cornering.
GRP is great in the rain!

the current ones i have are very comfortable indeed. despite the lack of padding the moulded shape is nice and snug.
however, i've tried other 'earlier' grp seats that were very uncomfortable.
it depends on the shape i guess,and you'd always have to try some first.
look for ones with a recessed bit for your spine.

The one's MK Sportscars supply are very comfortable with rolled edged and available in a number of colours with inserts.
Very reasonably priced too - I believe they supply to anyone wanting one, not just if you have an MK.

I have to say I was suprised too.
I've got a pair of GTS's "R500 copies" (which are basically the same as Tritons, MK's etc) which they call the GTS-205
(on the website) and they are amazingly comfy.
I'm suprised how narrow they are though. I'm only 5'8" and circa 10 stone, but I touch both sides. Not that I'm
complaining, they hold me in perfectly.
Very happy with them, especially for the money.

I've sat in a few:
I'm 5"7 and 13 stone and in my opinion:
MK - excellent - snug but comfy
MNR low back - as above.
Mac#1 - Not good at all - limited support and uncomfortable. (sorry Mac#1)

Ive got the 2004 / 5 Mac#1 seats and find them very comfy. Not tried the new Worx seats but they dont look much different. Ive fitted the seat pads as
well which makes them even better. As said before seat comfort is a personal and subjective thing. Worth trying a few out. I have tried some other
seats and found insufficient width in the shoulder area to be a problem.

Hi mate
I bought the mnr fibreglass seats and found them very comfy indeed not been on the road yet to fully test
I picked these for the rain factor so if i do get caught in the showers i don't have to dry them out
ps 6ft 2' and 15 stone at the mo but now time for beer beer beer and a bit of food and some beer christmas spirit so might have to convert a
dfs sofa when finished over christmas

I find mine very comfy, but having wide shoulders/chest makes things difficult as the "wings" on top of the seat dig into me a bit, but
after a few moments of hooning it, you really don't notice!

I find them ok, but you do notice a few bruises next day sometimes. And your arse gets wet if it rains.

I've used the MK seats for while on track and road and found themm very comfortsble. They do flex a bit which I think helps. The curved sides at
the bottom also helps.
As a comparison my neighbours £700 kevlar Elise seats are flippin agony at the sides as they dig in you hips. the bottoms are too flat and square! In
fact to sell his car he's had to change them as the buyer has back problems and couldn't stand them!

I had a ride in the CCT7 (oops! Sorry, mustn't use that name any more!) at Snetterton a while ago - I found their GRP seats to be very
comfortable, even when the car was being thrown all over the place. I think they buy them in...
I have the Triton seats - I'm finding them a bit hard on the bum, but maybe they'll improve with some fiddling (I'm thinking of
leaning them back, to 'spread the load' across my upper legs, rather than just on the points of me bum).
If I was buying another set I would pick the kind that needs ali brackets bolted into the sides, to give easy adjustment, rather than the 'bolt
to the floor' type I've got at the moment.
It's not just GRP seats though, I've sat on conventional padded vinyl seats that were very uncomfortable.

I've only sat in the ones in MK's demo car, and found them far too narrow for my hips [6'2" 13 1/2 stone].
I bought Cobra Roadsters for mine which fit me miles better.

How slim are your hips? I'm 6'3" and 15 st and my hips fit like a glove in my seat. The missus does struggle a wee bit though, but
she has a wider ar$e than me!

I had Cobra Roadsters in my MK and actually prefer a mate's (Lenny) MK seats.

Hi the comfort of grp seats is all dependent on your shape how you have them installed and how much adrenelin you have flowing whilst driving.
But once you have sat in a made to fit yourself and car foam seat you will never look at any thing else again as no grp seat will support you like one
or be as comftable. Best thing is they can be made for less than £100 .
