Covering a couple of edges for SVA

I have 2 edges on my car which I want to cover.

The trim around the gear stick gaitor is 5mm high and has a blunted edge, which according to the SVA manual isnt enough. Similarly the fuel filler cap protrudes by about 1/4" and only has blunted edges.

These both need something to cover the edges up. I was thinking of some small stick on trim, but I cant find anything suitable anywhere. Was thinking maybe using wing piping around the offending items, clamped in by the screws holding them down?

Anyone got any better ideas?

Why not put some U trim on just for the sva?

Adhesive backed foam should do the trick for SVA

i would go with your first thoughts of wing pipeing/tadpole trim and let it fall off after sva

small tadpole trim, but I doubt it will be picked up on if there smooth/blunt and look the part

Cheers guys. Looks like tadpole trim might be the way forward. I am just trying to give the tester no excuses thats all. Seeing as the manual states interior projections over 3.2mm need to be radiused to 2.5mm (though there is something about thats not required if the height of the projection is less than half its width, so I might get away with that one...?) and exterior ones over 5mm need to have a 2.5mm rad on the edges, and if you are being pedantic, my fuel cap sits 0.25" (~6.3mm) high and only has a nice chamfered edge...

Fuel cap just needs a large O ring stuck on with evostick.

Just looked at the photo again, the seat belts throught the seat holes is i belive a fail as the seat now becomes part of the seat belt mountings or guides, most people string them outside for the test.

SVA man failed my rear view mirror that's the same as yours. Check the plate with the two holes in - it's greater than 5mm protrusion from the bodywork and hasn't got a radiused edge.
My solution was to stick a small ally sheet plinth around the mirror with a cut -out for the mirror base. Then the plinth becomes "the bodywork" and the mirror base only protrudes 3.5mm, at which point it doesn't matter if it's radiused or not. Difficult to describe....

I seem to remember, my SVA man muttering (in a positive manner) about my seats (Cobra) being OK as they were sufficiently stong to be OK as part of the mount, but I guess by implivcation he meant that some are'nt?

You could have a problem with your gear lever knob. The holes in the top I believe can be a problem and need filling with silicone.

Measured that with a vernier and it measures under 5mm, and its not a *sharp edge* as such. But will stick something around it for the sake of it.

As for the seat belts, thats only the case if the seat causes a change in direction of the belts as they pass through, which I dont believe mine do. And I dont know of anyone having trouble with my style of seat at SVA due to that. Theres no padding in the bottom of the seats either, so the shoulder belts are well above the min height too...

Yep, I will borrow a std sierra one for the test I think.

Come to think of it, its totally silly that one (as well as the landrover lens holes one). Theres no edge as such.

And before anyone mentions it, the wheel is getting changed for SVA too

seconded - your knob will fail - sharp edges on the holes for the bolts.

re: gear lever trim. remove it along with the gaiter. chek the hole edges are in reach of the measuring wphere in all positions. not aware that you cannot have open holes like that but someone may know.
