Bottom front A-arm symetrical?
Hi every one thanks for lookin, I'm getting close to fabricating my front bones, My problem is if I make them parallel to the center of the car
the rear leg of the A-arm it going to foul on the chasis. My Idea is if I make the rear leg shorter it'll be ok. But, will this be really bad
for the handleing of the car or just bad but not to worrie?

You'll get some castor angle changes throughout the suspension movement, and probably some slight camber angle changes too. Not disasterous but
not ideal.

^ thats what i thought with mine, but they've been racing pickups for 10years now, and I'm sure SHP used the same design for years
before... they do have very little body roll (if any) so maybe thats why it doesn't matter too much. i don't know, but thats how mine are

If the front is on the left of your diagram, you will get toe-in and out. And because of your steering rack, you will also get bump steer.
The zonda has it's rear suspension on an angle. Perhaps for more grip in corners?

Some changes in in suspension geometry could be very beneficial but that could only be determined by many hours of testing I guess.

Not a good idea it will cause greatly increased bump steer and massive castor changes, and will cause tramlining.
Try this instead

Quatromike,
Why is the A-arm going to foul on your chassis when it doesn't on anyone elses?
Some other pretty dramatic changes must have been made!

Yes Mine is very different to normal because I'm not following any plan. I hope this picture helps. The rear of the leg (whice is the one on the
right) will be too far in board and will only be about 15mm clear of the chasis so will not be enough for droop in the suspention. and yes it is a
curved chasis . Oh and by the way thanks for the info so far.

Couldn't you bring both points forward?
The only problem then would be good camber gain/loss issues in body roll.
You would need to re adjust all mountings to sort it.

Yes but it's not very far in board as is so to make the top one shorter would make it way over board which I'm not keen on doing. for
chasis strength and looks. What if I made the top and bottom bones with the same alignment to counter act any changes in geometry?

I think I've waste too much time thinking about it and I really should get back into the build so I'll go ahead an make them up and see
