Question on Seatbelt mounting points

Do the seatbelt mount point nuts need to be welded to the chassis or will nylock's be OK for the SVA ?

Nuts

I believe they need to be welded,
but I don't have access to an SVA manual to proove it.

I think they need to be welded so they are effectivly part of the chassis

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

I don't think they necessarily have to be welded but you have to be able to undo them from the driver's seat ( or something like that) which effectively means you can't use loose nuts under the floor etc

Yes captive nuts are require --- use proper ones don't just weld an ordinary nut on.

You can use a 'bolt and nut' where you can get access to the nut. Captive nuts are NOT mandatory.

From the SVA manual....
"...The bolt may be secured into an alternative fixing, eg a locknut of suitable strength, where access is provided to the 'rear' of the mounting to enable separation/re-attachmentof the belt"

From Section 5 of the manual.

Bolts (and nuts) have to be 7/16 or 11mm high tensile. and clearly marked as such.

Cheers,
Syd.

Hi I was thinking of making the nuts up out of some hex bar and welding this to the chasis with spreader plates. while the bolts have to be of a specific grade of steel is there any regulations on the nut
