Hotpoint Aquiltas washer.. £449 in Curries, £294 online.

Love the way they want £119 for a 5 year warranty when it actually comes with one from Hotpoint!

Be careful - the hotpoint 5 year cover is parts only. A hotpoint engineer must visit your house at a cost of £96 to order the part and then they will charge labour to fit it. Not worth the paper its written on! Also is doesn't cover accidental damage.

so, £449 to buy, £119 to cover does that mean it as a 1 in 4 shot at failing ?

Over a five year period on a hotpoint / indesit. Yes! Hotpoint have gone down hill since indesit took them over. The average claim rate on washing machines is 156% over 5 years.

I like a lot of people these days look at white goods as throw away items once the 12 months warranty as gone, most you win the odd one you may lose.

Currys Argos Comet and the likes ask for stupid extended warranty payments on such items, its easier to buy another.
