Painting Floor

The ally floor of my car is looking a bit tired and dirty, so I'm thinking of painting it, but I don't know what to paint it with or what prep I should do.

Any suggestions welcomed.

Cheers

Scott

First degrease (I'd use Marine Clean from Frosts)

Then Acid Etch Primer (anything else will just fall off aluminium)

Next some top coat, not sure what would be best, but it needs to be tough and chip resistant. So not Hammerite/smoothrite.

How about not painting it. It'll only look tacky and rough up in no time. (in my humble)

Use one of the mind boggling array of plastic/stainless/vinyl/rubber/kevlar/carbon fibre etc etc, finishes available on a roll and bond it. Cutting a fresh bit of alu would be better than paint.

Hows about using the grippy stuff used for boat decks? It comes in rolls from the chandlers and its very tough wearing.

your floor

Hi mate ,take its the int floor that looks shabby, good degrease and good scrub with a scotch pad to remove any corrosion and to key the surface , go to your local car paint factors and ask for some alu etch primer ,then cover with a good rubber mat or like me you could cut some checka plate and put sound proofing between the two and seal up the edges drill out some holes counter sink for drainage and glue in some small lengths of fish tank tubing to the under side that protrude . vinnie
