mmm, not overly impressed to be honest... i like what the americans are doing with their dodge chargers and their mustangs and gt40s, going back to the 70's design with a modern look.

the only thing 'capri' on this car is the rear side windows...

Perhaps it's because I like this:

No no no.....
You can't have a FWD capri - I really hope they don't do that.

Having said that, it doesn't half look like the Mazda RX8 (same company). If it gets based on that then hopefully it will be RWD.

glad you said what it was cos it looks absolutely nothing like the original, I wonder if the stylist had ever seen one?

Mook - you are right about it looking like the Alfa: Alfa + different grille + BMW Z4 sculpted sides = new Capri

wouldn’t say that I've owned a 3ltr v6 mk1

just like this one infact, except mine had a white strip up the middle, destroyed tyres , as you can see that new 'Capri' might as well be a new 'anything what so ever' compared to the original or even less than the American Capri.

I have got to agree it would be so much better if it was rear wheel drive.

It's rubbish, based on a Focus with FWD, Mondeo trim. Keep it for me.

Look carefully at the front and you can see the Focus and a quick glance at the back its a 1 series BMW.

Looks like a facelift focus. I really dont like that
The original capri looked nice and aggressive. What we are seeing here is the next old persons car

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

I like it but having owned a Mk1 3litre for ten years in my 20's don't think it deserves the name Capri - call it Focus Coupe

I was seriously considering a Volvo C30 T5.....

This Capri looks pants IMO, and with front wheel drive how can they call it a capri. My last Capri a Tickford 2.8 turbo was Fun with a big capital F...

Nope... not a Capri... just a Crapi.

I've had a 2.0l S and a 2.8i special and even though 70's tech, were the best driving cars I've owned. You knew you were driving them *and* when you went past the limit too! Then you'd go around the block and go over the limit again cos it was so damn cool and controllable.

I think whoever designed that wasn't very brave and is a company boy just towing the Ford line. Still, if the big boys actually made motors that were classics and desirable, we'd have no hobby to make our own would we?

I actually like it as a normal car, has some decent (ish) styling similar to RX8 and Alfa Brera but agree they should never have called it a Capri.

Bit like Mini really - despite being a good car (I used to have a Cooper S) it shouldn't have really been called a Mini.

Hideous.
I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but that looks like one of Chris Bangles hideous 'flame sculpted' creations.
The capri was, IS one of the nicest looking cars ever to to be produced in this country.

Looks a bit like the ill fated Cougar to me, at least from the front.
Which was also suppose to be a Capri replacement at launch IIRC
