battery isolater postion
hi all, where do you put the battery isolate switch, so it is easy to get to for yourself and where sva man is happy with?

IIRC.
Anything within steering wheel + 127mm is exempt from the sharp edges rule, so I would pick a handy space there.

I think it has to be out of reach of the normal driving position (soeone correct me if i'm wrong)
so I put mine under the Dash on the passenger side. Nice security featur too

Mines under the bonnet on the bulkhead fire wall, and it need to be in a position where it can't be accidently operated.

Surely if that's true a column mounted key would also have the same rule applied?
Not that I've checked the manual yet...
Edit: Just checked the manual (draft pdf version) and can't find anything.
Though there is
c. which incorporates a mechanical part that acts
upon a system used to control the vehicle (eg
steering system)
i. cannot be activated while the engine is
running
ii. does not allow the engine to be started
before the device has been deactivated
iii. has an actuation, which is a distinct and
separate function from that of stopping the
engine
But that doesn't count against emergency stop switches as they aren't mechanical stops. (does count for quick release steering wheels and
steering locks)

right then, i get confussed reading all that legeal stuff, what i can make out i need to be out of reach from the driver and passenager.

I couldn't find anything to ban it in the manual as is an electrical isolator not a mechanical device.
Maybe call the SVA centre for advice, but I see nothing wrong with putting it in reach according to the wording I posted - it's designed to
prevent fires in a crash so good to have at hand IMO.

I fitted mine on top of the tunnel, as far forward as it would go. Just out of reach with belts on, easy reach when stopped. It's not obvious
either so fairly secure. Saying that whilst on holiday , I left the keys in the ignition and the isolator key in for 4 hours in a car park in St
Tropez, amazingly the car was still there intact when it came to go home!!
