Removable Steering wheel
Hi everyone,
Can someone give me a little guidance on fitting a removable steering wheel.
I have a sierra steering column however I want to fit a removable steering boss and getting a new wheel at the same time. Can someone show me exactly
what I need to buy and where from!
All help appreciated!

Mine is being fitted by Mac1. They shorten the sierra column and weld the boss onto it the sterring wheel is then removable.
Otherwise,I guess the column would ne too long.?

Yup. It's usually a cut + shut case. Chop off the threaded bit on the column, put on the adaptor, weld. Jobs a good 'un.
Make sure whoever does the welding is a good welding. A sudden lack of all steering could be bad.
Personally I drilled + pinned it too as back-up...

I can get the welding sorted by someone that is excellent at it so that side of things should be fine!
Anyone any recommendations on what kit is best to go for?

My advice would be to do the welding only after you know exactly how far you want the wheel to be when seated in the car. Otherwise you will have to
play around with spacers and the like.
(Not sure how far you are with your build, hence the suggestion)

Cheers for the advice Gergely - I am at the stage where I can sit in the car and have the pedal box in place (though not final fixed yet!) so I
shouldn't be too far off being able to fix the snap off.
Waiting for my paddle shift to arrive and then plan to sort it and the quick release steering at the same time! I already have an ordinary steering
wheel fitted but I would prefer it to be removable.

As a side note, think about it before SVA (if you're planning to SVA your car) as IIRC snap off steering bosses are a fail.

Chris - is there anyone in particular that you think is best? I have saw a few on rally design but haven't a clue what to go for.

What is wrong with the hex ones? I have a wilwood one lying around, but I don't want to fit it, if it is going to give me troubles afterwards.

I have used this type in the past with good results. Has the typical three bolt steering wheel mount.
