Pinto 205 2.0i block std rev limit
Ive read the std rev limit (production) for the 2.0i Pinto is 6250rpm.
Is it safe to raise this limit? The Hammill book suggests the std rods/std pistons are workable upto 6900rpm continuous, I'm assuming this is
with aftermarket rod bolts.. (not stated in the book.)
Any advances..?
thanks

Mine used to rev to 7500 in bursts without problems on standard b/e bolts
It was dynamically balanced and had a lightened flywheel though

What it'll reliably rev to is only part of the story, the rest of the engine (cam, valves, springs etc), the fuelling and the ignition etc will
need to be right to ensure the engine's still making worhtwhile and useable power that far up the rev range.

are you using the Ford EFi on that? My Capri with EFi used to hit the electronic limiter on 5500rpm.

Mine regularly goes over 8k according to my datalogger. Not gone pop yet, and still wants to keep going after its hit the rev limiter.
If you have a 205 injection bottom end they will take 7300rpm continuously as standard. Mines been lightened and balanced, had quite a lot of head
work done, FR33 cam kit and weber 45's and once its over 3,500rpm it just keeps pulling and pulling.
