Thinking of swapping the trusty X-Flow in my narrow body Westfield for a Bike Engine. Always wanted a BEC, so why not
Have been given details of an 893 Blade engine and new 919 box.
Just intereseted on pepoles opinions??

Get a joy ride in a bec and you'll see what the fuss is about, but also the downsides of a bec.
As far as the specific blade engines you mentioned, I;ve only had dealings with the 893cc, but all blades are pretty tried and tested in becs with few
horror stories.

Anything to look out for when buying? Engine is currently fitted in a car.
Gearbox will likely be the first failure in a car. But as long as it can be tested (DRIVEN) and not jump out of gear under hard load, then it's
going to be at least as good as the next one

I test drove the the same car as mine (ST) with a blade engine, and i felt it was gutless compared to my ZX9R E engine. Don't get me wrong, it was still quick, but the Kwacker engine is far better IMO
Stop messing around and get it bought, you know it makes sense!

Both the X-Flow and 893 Blade engine have 130bhp, so i presume i will see an improvement on performance soley on weight saving?
The gearbox is a new 919, so no probs there

I know that the gear linkage setup is different between the 893 & 919 engines - they work the opposite way from each other. Just something to note
when fitting it up - shouldn't pose a problem if its a new install though - only if you change between the two engine models.

if you are going to all the trouble of changing engine, you should really go for the best/most powerfull you can. Youll only want to upgrade in the
future otherwise and have to go through it all again.
go for a zx12r or a newer blade engine, or an R1 or any litre bike engine to be honest!

Will be looking at finances over the next week.
Will know cost of the 893 engine and what extra i will be getting, which i think will be - loom, manifold, can etc. So a complete packages.
It wont have a water pump as the electric one will be removed by the current owner.
I will then be getting a company to fit the engine when i have removed the x-flow.
Think you guys have sold it to me

Any particular bike clocks/dash you can recomend?
you could just buy a set of fireblade clocks - and have everything you need - and cheap..
blade power is great... i still can't get my head around how a relatively low powered bike engine works so well... th epower delivery and gear
ratio's just seem to be made for car application.. especially compared to some of the newer stuff

Engine wont come with any gauges.

If not its a DigiDash, dont think funds will allow.
just buy the fireblade clocks from a wrecker - cheapest option by far..
you can rig up a decent rev counter with speedo, or get a digi dash etc etc.. but if its budget - you won;t get cheaper than the bike clocks
