IVA Process
SJC - 8/6/10 at 08:36 PM

Hi

Coming up soon to booking up my IVA and just wondered if anybody who has recently completed this can offer advice on the paper work side of it. Had a look and there seams to have been several changes recently about the DVLA inspection etc and i just wanted some clarification.

Also how far in advance are IVA getting booked up??

Can i drive to a IVA test proving i have insurance and the test booked??

Thanks in advance

Stuart

I booked my IVA 8 weeks in advance, bearing in mind you can postpone it with at least 3 days notice if you hit problems.
You can drive it there with insurance on a VIN number (contact DVLA for one if you haven`t already), but if you break down it may cost you the test fee!!. Sort DVLA out afterwards, no real changes there except for brand new builds 10 plates etc I think

Is it just a vehicle registration form that needs to be filled out for DVLA. I am after a new reg as all parts are new does this all come on the one form??

Will contact DVLA to get a VIN number.

Cheers

Yes, call DVLA for a chassis number & they will send you the forms out at the same time, V55/5 or V55/4 I think?, there is also a new build declaration form you can download from the website to fill in.

Stu,
I'm actually at DVLA in the morning to get the car registered etc.

Forms are V55/4 (I think for new car), mine is V55/5 for donor built car.

You also need the IVA Pass certificate. You need this to fill in the V55 form as it holds key info.

V627 Vehicle Inspection Report. Filled in on the day by the Inspector

V627/1 Build Up Vehicle Inspection Report. This lists the component parts serial numbers etc. You need the receipts for new components.

Insurance cert for the car. Against VIN number. I created my own VIN number and DVLA are ok with this. 17 characters, no spaces and a combination of numbers and letters. * at each end to prevent tampering.

I took three weeks to get an IVA date at Mitchem and two weeks for a retest date.

Another two weeks for DVLA date.

Hope that helps?

Good luck........... Neil
