Well not a car, a reverse trike. Is this a big no no as the tread wears unevenly and the tyres won't tilt round corners? What kind of wheels & tyres do things like the Malone Skunk use at the front? They look like bike wheels but are they something else?

If one were to use a bike wheels at the front of a reverse trike how would they be mounted? Normally you'd have forks going either side of the wheel but if it were to be used like a car wheel attached from one side only...?

Alternatively what are some very thin car wheels/tyres? (going for economy, not performance and top speed)

Thinking logically here - I would have thought that bike wheels would not be strong enough to stand the sideways forces created by a car. Maybe a different type bearing could be fitted? The tyres are almost definitely unsuitable as the contact patch would be so small, making it very skid-prone.

IIRC bike tyres have progressive compound, so probly dont give much grip when perfectly vertical. Would be a very small contact patch for someting that would likely way twice as much as vehicle the tyre was intended for.

Hi there .I have fitted a honda vfr single sided swinging arm to my reverse trike and have looked into using the same wheels on the the front.
I think they can be made to fit as they are mounted using four studs, as a car.
I have fitted a 17 inch car tyre on the rear rim with no bother so I guess you could use the same on the front.

I remember reading a review of the Skunk - at the time it had bike tyres on the front wheels. The tester said it understeered horribly until you gave it some bravery whereupon the tyres gripped! The last Skunk i saw at stoneleigh had car tyres........!

The guru, Mr Milliken, built that car above. Everybody is allowed a mistake; but that was a mistake too far!!
