ZZR1100 just died
maccmike - 3/4/12 at 04:42 PM

Hi all. If I have one small complaint, its on occassion people dont update when they've found a fix so the rest of us cant benefit.

Anyway,,

Was out the other day for about an hour. Without load the trike coughed, changed down to 2nd, coughed again. Dipped the clutch to rev it, died completely. Coasted into a mansions drive.

On trying to restart it - no nothing, not even a solenoid click. Got the missus to tow me home.

Checked fuses - ok.
Bench tested starter - ok.
Changed solenoid - no difference.
Took entire harness out to test for continuity - ok.

Managed to get solenoid click only.

Checked earths - ok.
Tried different fully charged battery - no difference.

Tried different junction box - fired up first time.

Thank you for the update. Ive got a zzr 1100 engine so any info is great to know.

I've just been reading about how to solve the oil surge issues and found an article about adding another pipe from the head to the sump to bring the oil back quicker.

Thanks and glad your up ne running again.

Might better to do some probing with a voltmeter before changing parts.

Put it back in the bike, problem solved

Yeah disagree, fortunate enough to have ready supply of spares. changing solenoid and battery is easier, less time consuming and most obvious initial test. Harness easier to test out of car.
