Well two years in and only a handful of insurers, shocking, how can someone with a supercharged or turbocharged Seven get insurance and a standard
stock powered R1 engine I can't find anyone interested.
A-Plan can't insure?
Graham Sykes can't insure?
Footman James, can't insure
Terrible to say these companies specialise in KIT CAR insurance.
Thought with the amount of reverse trikes on the market, these companies (Who specialise in kit cars) might want business?
The problem is, most Kit Car insurers do not understand the questions they are asking, and the on-screen prompts are ridiculous?
"Is it modified"? Yes, it's hand built, it's a kit car? FFS
The other problem is that multiple listings of companies are the same ones.
The Bike Insurer
Bike Sure
All part of Adrian Flux Insurance.
The other issues are that when asked when your licence started, they take it from the last 10 years, so apparently I obtained my licence in 2000, wait
a moment, I passed my test in 1989, she says it does not affect my insurance, but with insurance companies finding any bloody loophole to not pay out,
you can see that this would be one area they would say you lied on..
All in all, I hate this time of year, hate trying to obtain insurance on a vehicle i barely touch 1000 miles in,
Insurance companies need to get on-board and start to help instead of the Can't be arsed attitude they have if the vehicle doesn't fall into
the standard Cobra or Seven class........
Hopeful that the insurers I have rung this morning might actually want my business:
MSM Insurance 01279 870535 F/C £333.83 Terrible quote to say my first quote 2 years ago was £375
Crosby 0191 2130748 F/C £303.75 P/O £227.63
Frank Pickles 01943 850999 Can't quote because of my postcode? WTF are you serious?
In the end after certain questionable issues with Adrian Flux (Who I am insured with) asking me if my vehicle has handlebars or a steering wheel I
decided no matter what I won't be giving them my money again.
I have finally found insurance with: Need To Insure.
They know all about the MEV Range of cars and Trikes, a company actually showing an interest in doing a job for you.
F/C was £282
Parts Only £228
Can't see me beating this, this is a fresh policy, so no No Claims accounted for, so any N/C you build up seems to be worthless.
Might be the last year I have my TR1KE if insurance just looks to increase each year.

my thinking is its NOT modified. modified from what spec? there isn't an original spec, so it can't be modified from it
thats how i see it anyway
As soon as you say its a motorcycle engine, and its behind the seats, they can't insure it, and the ones who can just take the piss.
Getting to the stage where I will consider selling it now.
I am not paying £300 per year for a vehicle I do 1000 miles in if lucky
Does not make any sense, might as well go back to a Boom Trike
Depressed and fucked off with insurance companies just totally abusing the market.
Not to rub it in. but if these are kinds of quotes (heck even add on £300) I'd be happy
Mines going to be REV trike, Car engined, at the front

1000 miles a year?! that's pathetic, I use to do over 5000 on an ordinary motor bike
The reason i'm a bit miffed is because my current insurance cost £295, so a drop to £288 is not a massive saving at all, to say I am reducing the
miles.
It seems we really do live in Rip Off Britain
