125cc tadpole trike

Browsing this section of the forum I came across a link to a young french lads tadpole trike(reverse trike) powered by a 125cc air-cooled motorcycle engine, what would be the likelihood of getting a machine like this road legal and what kind of license would be required to ride/drive it legally on the roads? Maybe I would go for a 200cc to give a little more torque for use out on the road but try and keep the simplicity of the original

Pretty straightforward to get approved, relatively speaking, I'd have thought.

You'd need to familiarise yourself with the MSVA Regulations, but they're a lot simpler than the IVA regulations for cars.

Now that I like. Are there any plans available or is it a DIY job?

Very much a diy job, I'll find the thread when I get home as I still have the French forum post open on my laptop, chassis was very similar to a Haynes just shorter and narrower, there are a few good photos but some are unfortunately missing due to age of the postings. I'm thinking a battered quad bike of 125-250cc would provide a couple of useful parts

Build thread here! Le Clicky Linky

I love this too and have often pondered something similar!

Merci beaucoup. Maintenant, pour déterrer le soudeur MIG, le ruban à mesurer et la scie à métaux.

I would imagine that it is not that difficult my only worry would be his choice of engine location, not massively keen on a chain whipping about between my legs, would be a fun little thing to commute to work on via the back roads that are in disastrous condition and coated in muck and gravel. Keep it nice and softly sprung and go and hack about anywhere you want!

Copied from ask the police website looks like with a full car license this type of machine can be ridden on a full car license,

Riding a tricycle with a car licence

You can drive a motor tricycle of any power rating if you're over 21 and you have a full car driving licence. If this is not the case you'll need a full category A1 motorbike licence to ride motor tricycles up to a power output of 15 Kilowatts (kW), and a full category A motorbike licence to ride trikes with a power output more than 15 kW .

I can see a trike in my future, how long can I hide it from the wife.

Stick a handle on the back and tell her it's a lawn mower
