As title.
I am after some custom steering rack extensions for my trike build. I have a punto steering rack which is m12 x 1.5 threads. I need to connect these
to Sierra track rod ends.
I will double check the thread sizes and length I need.
I just need to know where to go to get these made and approximate costs. Unless I can pay anyone on here can do them
Thanks
Dan
I can't make them for you, but whilst building my MK Indy I made friends with a local engineering firm. They proved very useful as a source of materials and for getting some bits made - e.g. seat mounts welded up. If you can find someone similar and give them the track rod and rod ends they may be able to make what you need.
M12 x 1.5 is the same as the Cinquecento rack I use for the Furore, I have extensions 170mm long (75mm internal thread, 50mm on the male end), which have M12 x 1.25 thread on the outer end for the Toyota TRE's , no idea whether that matches up with Sierra thread?
The Sierra thread is m14 x 2
Russ, I don't suppose you know the size of the taper on the Toyota TRE?
Good suggestion nick. I will have a look into local firms
Thanks
Dan
We have tapers made to fit the Toyota TRE's for our hub adapters, they are 20mm thick, & the taper goes from 15.5mm down 12.5mm, I believe that is a 4.8 deg taper each side, total inclusive taper of 9.6 deg
I know it's a long shot, but do you know if that is compatible with the Sierra TRE?
Sorry, but no idea as I don't use Sierra stuff, I'm sure several peeps on here must know, worth asking a separate Q in case others aren't following this thread? Might be close enough that a tapered reamer would sort it for you?

Not sure I like the wishbone design on first pass... too many moveable fasteners to flex for my liking.
But it gives the taper info you need.... & the drawing linky links back to LCB !!

According to Ford and the drawing below, a standard track rod end taper is 7° 9′ 7″
7° 9′ 7″ = 7.151944°

Thanks for the info. Just to confirm, the TRE taper is: 7.151944 degrees?
Thanks
Dan
Yes, it says 7.1 degrees.
Thank you
