trikerneil - 14/1/06 at 08:22 AM

just seen this on Ebay. NTDWM

Item number 4604712264

Looks pretty good to me, if only I had time, money etc ...

graememk - 14/1/06 at 09:01 AM

could you drive that on a bike licence ?

trikerneil - 14/1/06 at 09:10 AM

IIRC there's a top weight limit of 550kgs for bike license.

trikerneil - 14/1/06 at 10:28 AM

Actually I think it's more complex than that.
IIRC you can ride a 3 wheeler up to 550 kgs with a B1 entitlement but a Trike can only weigh up to 410 kgs otherwise it becomes a 3 wheel car.
It's a very grey area.

graememk - 14/1/06 at 11:12 AM

the only reason i ask is my mate only has a bike licence and in the winter its not practical all the time so i sugested he converted one of his old vtwins to a trike looking at the luago system

Buy a cheap Reliant Robin, no hassle, proven design and roof!

froggy - 14/1/06 at 04:40 PM

you can drive a reliant kitten on a b1 bike licence not as much fun as a robin but harder to tip over

I though a Kitten was a full 4 wheeled car?

From www.trikeshop.co.uk/trike_law.htm

1. Motorcycle - New licence holders are limited to 25kw/33bhp for the first two years of their licence, unless they take the large motorcycle test (Direct Access). Less than 410kg unladen weight.

2. Motorvehicle - Not exceeding 3500kg, and not more than 8 seats excluding the driver; basically the "car" group. The entitlement to drive a vehicle not exceeding 7.5tonnes, for those who passed a test prior to 1/1/97, is covered under group "C1".

3. Quadracycle (licence group B1) - 3 or 4 wheel motorvehicles not exceeding 550kg unladen weight, but exceeding 50kmph and 50cc. This is a relatively unknown group that brings the UK more in line with Europe. If these type of vehicles exceed 550kg, they then fall into the motorvehicle group.

If you've passed a full motorcycle test, you will have group "B1" on your licence, although if you haven't passed a car test, you wont have group "B". This creates a bit of an anomaly as your motorcycle can't exceed 410kg, but you could ride a trike up to 550kg, because of your "B1" entitlement. This is worth knowing, as there are quite a few riders who limit themselves to a trike under 410kg without realising.

Does that make a Kitten a Quadracycle?

Like I said a grey area.

Spooky maybe..but i like that

Mark Allanson - 14/1/06 at 09:20 PM

Maybe that makes most BEC's Quadragulvalcycles then!

Less than 550kg's

Simon - 14/1/06 at 09:23 PM

Why's it got a sidestand

ATB

Simon

Mark Allanson - 14/1/06 at 09:36 PM

Stop it falling over, silly

Triton - 14/1/06 at 10:21 PM

It's only a single seater but has added toe room

Mark Allanson - 14/1/06 at 10:51 PM

Probably has a non syncro gearbox so you have to heel and toe toe

Triton - 14/1/06 at 11:14 PM

Extra seat is for the toe jam collector

Triton - 14/1/06 at 11:19 PM

6 toes must play havoc on the jam collection device, the dooflage adjuster must be as tricky as a push me pull you plug hole thing

They don't work either.

niceperson709 - 14/1/06 at 11:21 PM

Well I think it is a pretty nice effort and very much like a Grinnal Scorpion on its layout , but I am sure ut would have looked better with cycle gaurds on the front rather than swept front wings . and i bet It would go pretty nicely

robinbastd - 14/1/06 at 11:25 PM

I think that Triton should make one.

Mark Allanson - 14/1/06 at 11:30 PM

I think another local entrepreneur has bought the rights

robinbastd - 14/1/06 at 11:33 PM

Lodge and Thomas will be holding the clearance sale.

Triton - 15/1/06 at 12:05 AM

I think he should make one as well but smellier
