My 3 wheel project is narrow enough that I can fit a single rear light in the centre that does stop tail and numberplate light all in 1. Nice E
marked LED items from bike shops work well.
Whilst I can do this and pass MSVA I'd like to invite opinions as to whether this is a good thing or not.
The rear part of the car, excluding the curves at the edges is only 710mm wide and getting stop/tail lights. indicators and reflectors on each side
would be a squeze. Is it worth trying? LEDs are much less likely to fail than bulbs and of course bikes seem to manage.
The obvious issue is that it might not show the full width of the vehicle when all you can see is the light, but I'm not sure I can think of a
situation where this might be a hazard. Perhaps reflectors further out to the sides might be a good plan.

I'd be tempted to go with reflectors at the extremities with a central rear light cluster.
Think the SVA manual talks about this i.e. how wide a vehicle can get before you need two lights...
Other than that aesthetics and your personal assessment of safety...
I was planning on indicators and reflectors at the edges of the rear panel and the central cluster over the number plate and single rear wheel. It is MSVA proof after all.

Here is a pic of an isetta. Like this, my car is narrower at the rear than the front. Mine is a shade narrower and not as tall. Also, mine has a
central rear wheel with an opening for the exhuast on one side and a vent for the radiator on the other.
