LOCOST for sale
derek manders - 22/10/13 at 07:54 PM

Locost (Noddy) 1300cc registered June 1997. Registered correctly as a LOCOST!

SORRY I CANT DO PICTURES BUT LOOK IN CHRIS GIBBS BOOK "BUILD YOUR OWN SPORTS CAR" PAGE 134.

This car is one of the very first to be built from the book.
Those of you where involved in the Locost scene in the very early days may recall my article's on it in the club news letters, No7 page 11 to 14 & No8 page 12 to 14 describing the build etc.
It is also the car featured in Chris Gibbs book “Build your own sports car on a budget” chapter 14 page 134 about the making of the hood & side screens.
It was built over the winter of 1996 / 7 & registered in June 1997, throughout the next 5 years or so I kept altering & adapting various items to get it as I wanted. You have to bear in mind that back then Locost builders were “on their own” there was no forum to ask advice on it was very much trial & error & suck it & see! But it was great fun & very rewarding when it all came together.

It has covered less than 17000 miles, It has a 1300 Xflow engine stage 2 cam, balanced internals, Lightened flywheel, twin choke webber carb, 4 branch manifold. Electronic ignition, The engine has done about 10 k miles.
Stainless exhaust, Caterhan nose & r wings, Capri 2lt rear axle with 9” brakes, 1.6 diff, Spax adjustable shockers, Remote servo, Mk11 Escort gear box with remote gear lever, Capri clocks, Reliant seats on Austin metro sliders, Allegro wipers, 7 spoke alloy wheels (5), Heater, home made box with Escort matrix & motor, tonneau cover, full hood & side screens. Recent recon steering rack, front discs & calipers.

Tax till end March 2014 MOT till October 6th 2014

Included in the sale will be all the receipts that I have, a list of most of what I have bought for the car, a photo album of the build, a copy of the first edition of the book, a copy of the second edition which the car is in, page 8 red one at the back & page 189 bottom left. A 1st edition copy of “Build your own sports car” by Chris Gibbs containing my chapter on the hood & side screen on this car. Also lots of the owners club news letters from the early days, including my article on the car build, A Haynes Mk11 Escort workshop manual.

For sale as I am starting to plan for retirement & need to re structure the vehicle fleet. Plus the fact that both me & the wife are finding with advancing years it is getting harder to get into it. (now got MX5 with doors!!)

£4500 The car is in Lincoln.

Also I have over the years collected a variety of items for spares (or for if I built another car), these will be offered to the purchaser of the car as a job lot before I advertise them separately.

Please email me derek.manders@virgin.net if you are interested but please be patient as I may take a couple of days to reply.

The Car is still for sale, treat yourself to a piece of Locost history for Christmas.

Car is still available!

As I mentioned in the original add I have various parts available & was going to offer them to the purchaser of the car before advertising them separately. Well as the car is still for sale & my garage is cluttered up & I need the space I am going to list these parts in a fresh add. Please have a look.

He did direct you to some photos (at what looks like the least active kitcar website around)

here's a link:

Looks like a nice build but I'm not a fan of the proportions personally.

Good luck with the sale.
