Has anyone bought any before?

I was going to buy some from halfords but these are a quarter of the price

Ratchet spanners are ok as long as you dont give them too much welly, otherwise the ratchets break, fine for quickly tightening nuts though, then nip them up with the other end.

The main thing with ratchet spanners is looking at the number of degrees required to click them. 5 degrees is ok but some are 10 degrees and you can't use them in confined spaces (which defeats the object)

Keep an eye out for these on offer - I paid £35 last year.

5 degree ratchet action and flex head make them really useful

I can recommend Teng ratchet spanners, they feel lovely in use, not cheap tho, i buy one every few weeks to spread the cost. I had some cheap ones before, which i bought from a kit car show, absolute pants,sorry no experience of the Aldi ones.

I agree with Wadders.
Teng certainly ain't cheap but the quality is superb and they are g'teed for life!
Their big side cutters are the best I have ever owned.( Must be good, 'cos I 've had two pair nicked )

Go for the halfords ones, I've got both versions(fixed&swivel head) and they are brilliant.Had the first set for about 18 months, have swung off them and they are still going strong.

"You get what you pay for"

It is particularly true with cheap tools. Also note: they always fail when you least need/want them too.

A few adages.......

"Buy cheap buy twice"

"Expensive tools hurt you once, when you buy them, cheap tools hurt you lots when they slip off, break etc"

"Tools are for life"

I always buy high quality spanners (Facom are my favourite). Ebay can bring up some bargains.

There is only one plus point for poor quality tools, it means you can blame your tools when it goes wrong!!!

I have the halford flexi head ratchet spanners £35 just over a year back,yep they are excellent value.
Pretty sure they came with a lifetime warranty too

I am though intrigued by the price of the aldi ratchet spanner set and i think i'l purchase some for the cars travelling tool kit.

somebody on my car restoration course sells the halfords pro rachet spanners for i think £28 for a set. £27 for imperial (i am waiting for them to come in)

Does the halford guarantee cover the ratchet?

I've got a Clark pro socket set from machine mart, its lifetime guarentee doesn't cover the ratchet mechanism

It was my ratchet that broke, I'm not saying how I managed to break it but they swapped it

The ratchet end on the Aldi ones is plastic, I had a look today when we went shopping. I wouldn't recommend them.
