Hi,
Organising the van hire so I can go and collect my recent purchase!
I know the width (55inches) 140cm - but I don't have a clue on the length.
It's just the chassis dimensions I guess.
Also can anyone recommend a van?
The car will be as this pic - will I be able to lift it in with one friend?
Thanks
Hi ya'
140cm? When I picked up my locost it was only 110cm (ish) wide and 280cm ish long. I picked it up 2 weeks ago. I got it in a LDV Pilot, but mine was
chassis only then all the extras inc engine etc... However I had to put the front of the chassis on the front seat (put down) to get it in! I would
suggest a long wheel base if I were you.
All the best,
O
Oh and as for lifting it with one friend, you prob will but you may want to take another
Here is the info of a LWB Ford Transit 350 (For Example)
Seats 3
Remote central locking
PAS
Radio
Rear Wheel Drive
2.4 TurboDiesel
Volume: 11.29 cu m
Van length: 5.85m
Van width: 1.97m
Van height: 2.58m
Load length: 3.39m
Load width: 1.76m (wheelarch: 1.39m)
Load height: 1.88m
Load weight: 1529kg
I would suggest something like this for ease.

I picked up my chassis in a LWB Transit. Supposed to have 3m load space.
Unless your other hobby is weightlifting, it'll take two of you to lift the engine alone.
Count about 300 - 400Kg if engine, gearbox and diff are installed

Doable but it will hurt! lol.
Hired a flat back van when I moved mine, currently with a Capri axle and 7" Revs on so pretty damn wide, but it fit nice and easy.
Omni - where did you get those dimensions from? I'm looking for a van to carry my single seater (6' wide!)
Dangle_kt - sorry for hijacking your thread!

I am sure the standard with a Locost (Chassis Only is about 110cm). At least I thought that is what the book says! lol.
I am not near the book to check but I will pop down and grab it to be sure. BRB
O
6ft BTW is about 180cm odd wide! DAMN THAT IS WIDE! lol
Right I have the book in my hands
The width of the chassis only is 42" or 106.7cms and the length is 91.9" or 233.4cms. I was a bit out on the length lol. (But I have had
nearly a bottle of wine ).
With a 6' wide single seater car you will have 2 odd foot either side of you DAMN!
Got any pics of the bad boy?
O
Pics here
:-)
Whoops plus the 63.5cms at the very back so I was about right at 2.9m
Damn the front does look wide. Very nice

it scares my mates when they see that!!!

Got mine in a short wheelbase tranny. Mind u it did stick out about one metre and the engine wasn't in place.
Rope the chassis to the inside of the van and tie the doors shut around the back of chassis. Have fun.
thanks for the comments guys - my single seater looks wide at the front although the rear track is slightly bigger - it's because of the narrow
nose.
So, if anybody knows of the dimensions of a LWB transit box.......
