Hi,

On my build I used Megajolt to save the problem of making/modifying the original loom. Megajolt is used by itself and has caused me no problems and I am very pleased with the install.

Regards

Bob

+1 for mega jolt they sell as a zetec pack with all the bits you need and a basic map for around £200

thanks guys so what your telling me is have no need for the loom or ecu and the megajolt will replace it all?

bbwales - 1/2/12 at 05:38 PM

Hi,

Not sure if I will be correct, but you are using a 98 reg engine. Will the car not need to have a CAT fitted, will it be OK without if say you get a Q plate.

I understood it to be a pre 95 reg engine was OK without cat po9st needed one. So if running Megajolt with carbs will it be OK?

Adrian

Edit to say noticed not saying a 98 engine, just a 98 ECU.

98 should be eec-v and has 104 pins.

And if there going begging for not much dosh let me know

Mday41 - 1/2/12 at 07:56 PM

I'm pretty sure a cat wouldn't effect it but I may stand corrected! I'm thinking Of fitting one just incase anyway, The escort gti was P reg 98 and the ecu is 60pin and has eec-iv written on it, the only reson I went for the 98 was that it was a gem of a find on 8000 miles off a mate of mine.

If your putting the engine in a car that will be IVA'd then it will need a cat and in my opinion will need injection to meet the test.

Some say you could get the engin through on carbs but I doubt it.

Ultra low miles that, not even run in.

I have tested a zetec on carbs with an eec-v but only as a complete loom. Never did try and see what the min amount of sensors are.

I am guessing

crank
Tps
Ect

Like most 3d ignition ecu's

Cam phase
Lambda
Maff

Will be needed for injection aswell.

o right i do have two sets of throttle bodies wich i was going to use before i changed my mind as i thought it would b more complicated to set up i even have an st170 manifold wich i was going to use for them, im not to sure now! im not to fussed about fitting either but am worried about wiring it all up and was keen when i heard all i need is the megajolt kit to get the carbs working on the zetec! am i right in saying that if i use the tb's do i still need the loom an ecu cos im not feeling to confidant in setting that up myself! i have even thought of changing engine to cvh just for iva but having the zetec in and fitted and engine mounts made, i feel as if im going backwards if i do! aswell as having to cut out the engine mounts wich im very pleased with!
