I wouldn't skimp on this - you'll probably get everyone say this...
It will really affect your handling if you get less than qlty shocks...
I believe Eddie99 was looking into some Protech shocks for group buy and managed to get full set down for 330 ish?

Hope that helps?

i wouldnt have said you could build them, but id recomend searching ebay, be prepared to spend a few weeks looking to get a bargain.

Fully agree with all that's been said. They are the only thing (along with the tyres) that keep you pointing in the right direction, DO NOT
skimp!

nothing worse than a car which is fast in a straight line but which won't go round corners.
You wouldn't skimp on the brakes would you? the the suspension is just as important

Sure its been talked to death but id be tempted to look at motorbike rear monoshocks.
Tend to go pretty cheap and if you stumble on the right one you might get comp and rebound damping and preload adjustment.
Just check the open/closed lengths and the id of the spring seat to make sure its a common size for fitting appropriate springs to.

Seems pretty good, mine were the same ones (I think ) from Dampertech and cost me £280 for the longer shocks and springs inc P&P IIRC
