mx 5 engine rebuild

hi

i might be buying a mx5 1.8 in the next few weeks but i was just wondering if it would be worth rebuilding the engine (not 100% on ,miles but say 120K). and i was thinking of rebuilding it myself are there any good books out there to help, and what upgrades would be good whilst the engine is in bits???? i might even strip the car and put it in a kit.

cheers thanks.

My 1.6 had 200,000 km on it when i had to reduild the bottom end, previous owner had done a track day and run no4 big end shells.
the rest of the engine was as new.
as pewe says, they are a fun car with a heater and roof for not much money

My Eunos has done 80k plus miles and runs great. With regular oil changes they will last indefinately. Mine has been well caned around the track and still going strong. It would be as well to buy a second hand engine if yours is past it. They are cheaper than ever. Good luck.
