I have mounted the first body.
Still missing a few vital parts, but the body is on well enough to drive around the neighborhood.
Problem with rolling the car outside is that every person walking or driving by had to stop for a chat and to look the car over.
I dropped the windshield glass while attempting to mount the frame back on the car... Another $160 in the bin.

Steve - It's good to see a 'real' one Looks terrific.
What ground clearance are you running? is the front ride height ok or is it the camera angle?
Cheers,
Raz
When thinking outside the box doesn't work any more, it's time to build a new box

Alan, yes - awful compared to what it will look like finished...
Thanks Rob!
Raz, 6.5" at the nose, 5" across the frame rails. Adjustable with the pullrods.
Danozeman, I can't either! I have a long ways to go to that point though...

Now that has got some serious looks!
very wel done.
steve, are you going to use a donor dashboard on the car? or are you also moulding from scratch?
pitty about the windshield, but hey occasional f*ckups are in order when building your own supercar

The interior will be from scratch as well, including the dash. It will be very simple really. Like I said, so many things left to do!

The subject of this thread reminds me of my fond days as a morgue intern...
any chance you have more detailed pics of the mounting system you used reinforcements or hardware choices. Thanks

Heh! Morgue terminology... Sounds like Car building is a dead end....
I will try to take some pics of the mounting/latching and hinging mechanisms for the bonnet and for the rear decklid this weekend. The latches are not
installed yet. Saturday.

Here are some photos of the front hinge. It's a very simple setup, with rod-ends and pins as the hinge assy. Very self-explanatory.
The latches are '57 beetle and I'm using one on each fender. 4 total
The rear decklid has a dogbone double hinge. The decklid has to move rearward a bit before rotating up. This is so as to clear the rollbar.
