if I change my cams for my 2litre zetec what difference will it make?
I think I can change them for about £500 but I dont know why its worth changing them??
Thanks,

If the rest of the engine was set up to suit the cams then you could get a reasonable increase in mid-top end power, generaly at the expense of torque
at lower RPM.
If you are running carbs then they will almost certainly need to be rejetted and if you run an ECU it will need to be remapped to take advantage of
the cams.

£500? I bought a pair of brand new 2.0L cams for £50, havent fitted them yet cos they'll need shimming (phase 3).
As aleady said, quite a kick in the upper midrange can be achieved, I've seen reports of 170 BHP from Bike TB's and 2.0L cams in a
1.8.

£500 seems a lot, for that money you could fit a 2ltr engine and some aftermarket performance cams and see a realistic figure near to 190bhp on
standard head. I suspect 170 from a 1800 seems a little high.

£500 quid? Thats a bit excessive. New cambelt and 2 litre cams will be alot less than that.

sorry to hijack but im running a 1.8 phase 1 silver top, is it just a case of throwing the cams in or is there anything else that needs to be done to
the workings of the head?

Just bung the 2.0 130BHp cams in for instant gains. No mods needed. Did the same to my 1.8, + added a webber alpha kit which pushed it to about 155 @
the crank.
Just so happens I have spare set of new cams with you name on.
PM me if you are interested before I put them on the bay of decay.
They wont be as cheap as £50 but they're way under £500
