This weekend after a long drive in the sun I've had the feeling that the rubber engine mounts were getting softer, allowing much more engine
movement.
After a night sleep, these mounts feel stiffer
Has anyone here on the forum have had the same experience?
I would like to find some stiffer ones for my Avon, any suggestions?
jp
Depends, what do they look like?
Land rover ones spring to mind but depends what you have atm.
I'm experimenting with an engine steady bar after finding mine moves around touching the chassis in a couple places...

That's going to be a bit noisy, a rubber bushed stabiliser might be a better idea?
This is my engine stabilizer

JP, I used regular industrial silent block (not automotive) they just work.
My avon have (sierra) gearbox support not too hard, I can't find an harder one. About front engine supports , ones of mine (left one) breaked
(for the vibrations) and i had to reweld it and renforce. So look if you support need some weld ?
Ciao Rudy
Hi Rudy,
You're right about the engine mount, my left one has been reinforced.
It started to bent...
Ciao,

Landrover engine mounts and a westy/caterham gearbox mount will stop it moving.
Fiesta engine mounts are waaaay to soft (from experience!)
JP,
I ordered me some Land Rover silent mounts after "the weekend" ;-)
I did not had the change to mount them, but they seem to be very rigid compared to the Fabory ones.I let you know the result ones they are mounted.
You need the Land Rover Defender V8 engine mounts, I found them on ebay.
