andyfiggy2002 - 3/3/11 at 10:14 PM

i rang Frank Pickles insurance as doing it online they use a different underwriter costing more, for my piddly little 893cc blade its only £84.90 F/C, parts only, 2k miles per year with european cover, mind you i'm in my forties, no endorsements amazingly & live in sleepy Devon & theres no agreed value on this policy so taking a risk. Of course I have no idea of their track record on pay out day........anyone have anything bad to say about them as sounds to good to be true?

Danozeman - 3/3/11 at 10:22 PM

Ive just insured mine with them. Theyr underwritten by LV.

MakeEverything - 3/3/11 at 10:45 PM

I got a quote on a guaranteed value of £9k.

Told them about the supercharged 2L and everything, will cost me £167 with a 5k mile limitation, parts only.

P ? - 3/3/11 at 11:13 PM

That third party and parts to yours or just parts to yours ?

andyfiggy2002 - 4/3/11 at 12:11 AM

i would assume if its agreed value its F/C, funny as they told me they don't do agreed value hence my concerns, i don't want to pay £85, write the thing off & have them pay me pennies considering i suffer from upgrade-litess

Thats fully comprehensive.

Just to clarify, i told them that it would cost me 9k to replace the car if it ever went missing or was written off. I doubt id get that, but it increases the chances.

They have incremental thresholds for the valuation, and 9K was as far as i could go before the next % increase. For example, driving to and from work would cost me an additional 5%.

andyfiggy2002 - 4/3/11 at 09:46 AM

just rang them,

underwriter is Highway otherwise known as LV which i didn't know as used Highway in past,

THEY DO NOT DO AGREED VALUE only for caterhams

they are willing to to members only discount but ask who is the person to contact here so maybe that person would like to contact FP to get a further discount for you boys

as regards reassurance even though this is 4 x 4 read this

LINKY

Sureteam want £450 for the same arrangement

Back to Adrian Flux i guess..

andyfiggy2002 - 4/3/11 at 06:03 PM

mine sits idle in a safe area during the winter months & comes out to play apr- sept hence the 6 mth issue, if were given the option of 6 mth tax at least give us the OPTION of 6 mth driving insurance maybe with 6 mth laying up insurance considering these are supposed to be specialist kitcar policies tailored for our needs not your everyday ordinary car owner with his heating, windscreen & rain gear. Besides after 6yrs full NCB you don't accrue any additional NCB anyhow so i aint worried about losing out on NCB, these companies understand these types of cars are mostly driven during summer & are our 2nd car or does making a fast buck spring to mind!!
