Has anyone actually fitted a GTS de-dion and front suspension to a book chassis yet?

Ive been doing mine this weekend, and have had some challenges, so was wondering what anyone elses experiences have been.

I have now sold 50+ axles, and probably more front wishbones. No one yet has had a fitting issue.

Everything is straight forward. Top tip would be not to get too involved in looking for things that aren't there.

The rear axle fits as per the live axle in the book, in that it is located by 4 trailing arms and 1 panhard rod. Fit the u brackets to the chassis as per my drawing, then the trailing arms and axle. Fit the panhard rod to the axle and that will locate your panhard rod u bracket.

At the front the top u brackets centre point are vertically above the centre point of the lower u brackets. The wishbones themselves should jig the horizontal positions. The u brackets fit on the chassis as per the drawing, which is basically locate lower wishbone brackets in position, such that the rear most bracket is on the lower chassis rails, and the forward bracket is on the front bulkhead upright. The top u brackets fall against the chassis in position as described above.

If you get one side done then you can make up some simple jigs to help position the otherside perfectly symmetrically.

Theres really nothing different in principle to the book, so i don't see why there is any issues.

Obviously you never did airfix kits as a kid then, kitcars are supposed to be a challenge that's the whole point but on saying that the de-dion fits just as the escort axle does.
