i am mounting a sierra 2l dohc into the gts kit.
to get the ground clearance needed the front of the rocker and the throttle body will foul
if i just try to get it in the inlet manifold fouls on the bonnet but the engine is tilting forward
if anyone is using one of these engines can you please help me for i need to get the engine mounted
by the end of next week
thanks in advance
forgot to mention i am also using the mt75 gearbox
Although I am using exactly the same engine/gearbox as yourself, I haven't quite fitted it yet either.
A few people get around the inlet manifold problem by cutting out a V shape section of the manifold and joining it back together. Just like this
(http://www.luegosportscars.com/cars/velocity/build%20manual
/section%207/section7.htm)
To get around the ground clearance you also need to chop the sump slightly. Paulbuz on here has already chopped his and got a piccy
(Here)
I will try and post some pictures when the gearbox and engine are in the car (Hopefully Monday?)
thanks for the help
the mod to the inlet looks good
i hope everything goes okay i have also been shown some other pics for sump moding have you done yours yet?
it will be great to see how you get on
kind regards
jay
Very few people use the standard pinto injection due to it's height and general bulk, though some have used modified versions. Not very
impressed with the Luego one though, that will flow like a pig with the sharp angle that is introduced.
Have a look at Mark Allanson's pictures for a neatly modified system:

An aftermarket manifold and a set of DCOE40's would be a better solution in terms of power and space, though obviously more expensive.
You will obviously need to chop down the sump, if you haven't done that yet, and to get a little more clearance the oil filler and be chopped off
and moved to the back end of the cam cover with a 90 degree bend.

over 4k without even a glimmer of bother, perfect starting, twin dcoe's, - no thanks
that looks good
thanks for the mod instructions
I have added some pictures to my photo archive showing the current state of play with my setup.
Today I am trying to make up some engine mounts for the DOHC.
looking good
what are the bushes you have used on the gearbox mounting
The bushes are from westfield
(Link) and look nothing like the given picture.
Anyway, they are standard gearbox mounting bushes like the ones from Car Builder Solutions only they have a special nut/tube affair on them.
I have now got some lovely engine mounts attached to some newly welded supports on the chassis now. Pics of these are in my photos again.
nice work
i am finishing off my engine mounts tomorrow
thanks for the link for the gearbox mounts
