Just realised i posted This thread in the wrong section!.
Any GTS builders got any suggestions?
Pretty sure the grey bush is not kept, i've seen a few cars up at the GTS workshop and can't recall seeing it on any of them mate.
there must be some other arrangement used then otherwise there would not be enough support for the column and you would have very wooly steering!
The grey nylon bush should be a good "running fit" in the steel tube that is welded through the bulkhead.
You will probably have to clean off the powder coat from the inside of the steel tube.
Lubricate it all with silicone grease if possible and secure it on the steering wheel side, with the triangular holed, spring washer.
Mine was not coated and i scraped out any paint runs that got inside.
I will get the dremmel in there and make sure there are no spots of paint or any surface rust then try again.
I don't know but could there be different size plastic bushes?
Ford have been known to do things like this occasionally.
Mine came off a non adjustable column Sierra estate with a power rack and fitted "snugly" untill I attacked the powder coat inside the tube
with a small flap wheel.
You should not have to do any thing, but fit the gray bush in the weld tube on the bulk head as Brian said.
Ah i see, we are talking about this bit right?

Thats the job new someone would come up trumps.well done Scott.
Its all sorted now lads,
A bit of wet and dry on the bush and a good sctubbing with it inside the welded tube and we have a nice sliding fit.
Thanks for the advice though.
