My wife is pregnant!!! (It's a healthy BOY!!!!!!)
Steve Hignett - 19/11/09 at 12:26 AM

Hi All,

We went for the 20 week scan today!

Milenah (my infinitely better half) is actually at 21 weeks and 4 days today (wednesday), but with the mixups that have happened during her pregnancy and the (minor) complications earlier on, we are a little out of sync!

All of the Dims that Nurse/Sonographer took showed that every part of the baby (head/stomach/spine/thigh etc) were all in the normal range, the stomach was slightly larger, but better that, than smaller.

Once again, "Thank you to everyone that's offered words of wisdom, because I have spoken to a lot of people when thinking about having a baby or not! Everyones advice has been appreciated, and I'm convinced that you were all correct to talk me into this as a great thing to do!"

The link below is to her 9 week scan/news that I posted on here.

So today is just an update, but it is an important update for me personally, because it was after this scan that I allowed myself to get more excited about actually becoming a father due to complications earlier!

There are things left to do (the midwife neglected to do the 16 week blood test to check for Downs) so we're not fully in the clear just yet, but we both feel a whole heap better!!!

The photos below are "photos of a photo of a scan image", so once again, please accept apologies for the clarity!

Yeh congrats but don't be so nervous about it all. I was watching F1 on the rip-off hospital tv just before my second son was born.

This. And best wishes again. My one suggestion is to ensure you insist your child is breast fed. That way you have zero night time responsibilities

Congrats - life will never be same again !! ( trust me ) but very enjoyable all the same.

Congratulations Steve.

Look after your wife and make the most of the time with her before your nipper arrives.

Cheers,
Mike

All the best, mate.

I wouldn't worry about this...

"... the stomach was slightly larger, but better that, than smaller..."

Sounds like it's inherited to me. Just hope he doesn't get his looks from you as well.

fesycresy - 19/11/09 at 09:12 AM

Good news, always a relieveing moment.

You've got to try the gas and air when she's ready to pop

With our first I was kept out of the theatre as it was an emergency section under G.A. - I paced a bit, made myself a quick cup of tea and then fixed the mini-trunking for for the TV aerial in the delivery room! Finally a midwife walked in, handed our son to me and buggered off - a wonderful, but frightening moment.

pro tip to mum: lying on your back is the worst position to give birth in

scootz - 19/11/09 at 01:55 PM

Congratulations... time to start fabricating that carbon fibre push-chair!
