GTS - April Newsletter
GTS Newsletter April 2005
Hi all,
We are updating the website, www.gtstuning.co.uk, to show the latest pics of the demo car as it was finished after the Detling show. We have also
added the latest brochure details and order form etc as a downloadable PDF files. We are also pleased to annouce that the first public issue of the
build manual for the Locost GTS is available as a free download from the Locost GTS page on the website. Due to the vast range of products we now have
we have had to take on even more webspace and as this becomes available (14th April hopefully) then we will be adding more pics and more free
downloads.
Also the site has been updated with pictures and details of our latest products. Firstly the Wilwood Powerlite caliper kit at £268 includes a pair of
calipers, mounting brackets, discs, road spec pads and all fixings and most importantly VAT as well. You'll find details and photos of the
Sierra and Cortina versions of teh kit in the brakes section of the website.
Secondly we have added the new aeroscreen pictures and order information, at £70 in carbon effect plastic we believe this aeroscreen will be very
popular with many 7 builders as it should conform to most scuttle shapes. You'll find pictures and details in the bodywork section, under Locost
and GTS sections, of the website.
Due to the response we received at the Detling show, we have added the range of Revotec instruments, silicon water hoses, fans and fan controllers to
the site as a compliment to the new dash board that we gave you details of in the last newsletter. All the details on these items can be found in the
Instrument section of the website.
We have just received a stock of rivnut tools from Draper. These are exceptionally useful when building any type of kit car, especially useful for
mounting the bodywork. The Draper tools are very robust and at just £25, including a selection of rivnuts, are extremely good value. E-mail
darren@gtstuning.co.uk if you are interested in further details of these, as we haven't yet got these added to the website.
We have combined all of our lighting products into one kit. The lighting kit contains a pair of our small headlamps (choice of chrome or black), 2
side repeaters (amber oval shape, silver also available), 1 fog light in carbon effect housing, 1 reversing light in carbon effect housing, 2 front
indicators, 1 number plate light (black or chrome) and a pair of rear light clusters again in carbon effect housings. Details of this kit can be found
in the lighting section of the website.
As a reminder I would like to point out that we provide a custom propshaft service. We can provide propshafts to custom lengths for standard Sierra
gearbox and diff installations. These come as brand new assemblies, balanced and powder coated in black, turn around on these items is around 4-days,
and cost is from £120 per shaft. These are made by the same supplier as Caterhams, and are a class piece of kit. Find further details under the
propshaft section of the site.
We are expecting to be able to make a couple of exciting annoucements in next months newsletter, hopefully in time for the Stoneligh show. Hopefully
by then we will have finalised the details of two or three very exciting distributorship agreements, which will start to make GTS a brand name in its
own right.
We won't be at Stoneliegh as in having a stand to ourselves, but we are going to make our presence felt. The Locost GTS will be on Revotecs
stand demonstrating their products, and I will be around in another capacity all to do with the distributorship annoucements. We may also have the
Challenger there in some capacity if its possible. If you want to order parts to collect from the show then by all means do so.
We are eagerly awaiting Totalkitcar’s review of our Challenger kit. Steve Hole did the honours in our Lotus 11 inspired sports car, taking a customers
Triumph bike engined example for a spin last Friday afternoon. This car provides 150 bhp from its 995cc engine, and at 450kgs dry weight makes for an
extremely quick road racer. Steve seemed to enjoy the experience, even though the lack of reverse gear did give us some cause for embarrassment just
trying to get out on to the road! This car will be in action in a famous French racing event next month, and in the Brighton speed trials later in the
year. We hope to be in a position to give passenger rides in this car at the TotalKitCar live event at Brands Hatch on September 17th. The Locost GTS
demonstrator that we built across the weekend at the Detling show will also be available for passenger rides at the same event.
The Detling show was a real highlight of the past 18 months for us. We thought we had bitten off more than we could chew for a while with the complete
build of a kit across two days. I would like to thank everyone who mucked in and helped with the build across the two days. The build itself was
surprisingly easy, after ensuring that we had all the parts to complete the build, we had four people really attack the build on Saturday and after
about 8 hours the back of the work was broken. On Sunday two of us finished of the remainder of the build so leaving the total build time at around 48
man hours, which isn’t bad going. Not sure I would volunteer to take on he challenge again though!
Until next month when hopefully i will have plenty more to write about, have fun!
Kind regards,
Darren

Darren,
I just tried to download the Build Manual PDF but I get the following error:
"The requested URL /www.cougarracing.fsnet.co.uk/build-manual.pdf was not found on this server."
It's the same story for the brochure.
Cheers,
Craig.
[I just noticed the earlier post with the attached PDF's before anyone says it...]

I have run out of webspace, to store it all on.
I should have the extra space available today, so i can upload it all.
Kind regards,
Darren

Always remember to clear your temp net files... Mine does it everytime I shut IE (good old McAFee) so i usually forget that it can cause
problems!

Darren,
Any plans to make the GTS chassis drawing pack available free as a PDF or will it remain chargeable?
This might seem a strange question from someone like me who has built his own chassis but I'd like to be able to ascertain which GTS components
are likely to fit my McSorley chassis so that I can order bits in future and be confident that they will fit. I'm mainly interested in the W7DE
version.
Cheers,
Craig.

Hi Craig,
The chassis plans won't but the wishbones etc, will be available as downloads, showing the critical dimensions. I have 800MB extra available now
so over the coming days i shall be making full use of this for more pics and drawings.
Kind regards,
Darren
