radiator size
can anyone confirs what radiators they are using in their panthers?
My car boiled over during the fast idle test at SVA and my R1 bike radiator isnt helping the problem as it has a fair proportion of the fins bent
over.
Just wondering what radiators you were using and maybe some dimensions if possible too.

i'm running a polo rad like alot of other people on here the dimensions of the two i have just got this morning are 325mm tall by 448 wide

The fan was on and just wasnt doing the business.
It cuts in at about 104 deg.
Thanks for the dimensions Gazza, i will have a measure up.
What Mk polo is it?

I may be wrong but i think most people use the MK2 polo rad, i'm using an Escort rad simply because i was given one thats in very good nick but
i could fit just about anything as i'm bulding a w7de.

Polo rad and the biggest fan you can fit.
I would set the fan to come on at about 90deg max, then you have some chance of catching it before it boils up. I would say 104deg is too high.
My pinto runs at the best part of 95deg on a polo rad on a warm day, even fitted with an 82deg stat. As soon as the stat opens I turn my fan on.

104 degrees is way to high especially if you are running a small rad --- 92 to 95 degrees.
With fan switches a lot depends on where you fit the fand switch --- nearer the water outlet from the the earlier it cuts in.

Its a stock R1 Rad and Fan set up, the temp sensor is in the rad right next to the fan switch so im guessing that the water temp in the engine is
higher than it was reading on my clocks 
Maybe if i just spent a few hours straightening the fins on the rad and shorted the fan switch out so it was on all the time it might
help............what do you think?
its fine when im driving and have cool air going in the front but not a standstill when on fast idle

Interestingly i just found out today that a Golf MK1 / 2 rad is the same hight and thickness as a Polo rad but 4" wider therefore making it bang
on perfect for anyone building a +4 car!
