Decision please! Going to Utrecht today -
...and coming home again Thursday evening this week.
Help! I need to decide by 12:00 today (UK time). Should I:
Fly (and then use public transport),
or
Drive*?
*Tintop or Locost?
*Channel tunnel or Dover-Dunkirk ferry?

Fly.. public transport in holland is superb.. I travelled every week for 14 months and had maybe 4/5 problems with my daily commute on the
trains...

Don't drive, unless you like being stuck in traffic. Holland is one of the worst I know regarding traffic. almost all highways limited to 100 or
80 (kph that is)and getting anywhere near rotterdam, amsterdam, den hague or utrecht means traffic jams. That's why you see so many bicycles in
holland.

Yep, I used to regularly travel the train from Schipol to Utrecht and s'Hertogenbosch, pretty much always on time. A bonus being an english
speaker was that you could sit in the first class seats for a while claiming you didn't understand the dutch sign Sadly they can speak
english well enough to tell you to feck off once they find you!

Fly. Definitaly
The train connection between schiphol and utrecht is good enough to use. ;-)
You might also consider using eindhoven airport to save some cash.

Thanks guys. That's good, sensible, logical advice... and I have to agree. You're absolutely right.
You convinced me. I heard you and it became crystal clear.... I don't need logic today.
I've been doing this weekly commute since May - I'm getting tired of the plane and train thing I guess.
......Sod it, I'm driving. Choice of car will depend on whether its raining or not here in the next 10 minutes.
Yay!

I must admit, if you have confidence in the kit car, take it along with your wet proofs and crash helmet.
What a great commute! Better than London any day.
Kindest Regards,
Richard.

Uneventful drive apart from the congestion in Belgium.
I chose the tintop on the basis of economy (it does this trip on 32 litres of diesel door to door) and comfort (it was raining when I left home) but I
still wished I was in the locost all the way.
Locost next time I think.

That would be cool, but the car isn’t driveable at this time, rebuilding it: http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=113932
I life in a small village called Ulft near the German border, its approximately 110 km from Utrecht. Next time we meet somewhere with our cars, that
would be a great idea!
