megane 225 timing belt???

hi does anyone have a rough idea how much i would expect to pay for a new belt tensioners and water pump supplyd and fitted, ive getting a few quotes of around £1000 i think this is crazy surely it cant be that big a job

a friend got his done at ktec in verwood for 750, i think its wheels off, wheel arches,bumper ect off

up in newcastle mate, that would be spot on even just to give me a better idea it seems as though people are just trying to take the wee for 1000 im willing to take the engine out and refit it one weekend, its just finding the time

If you've ever changed an indicator bulb on a 225 you can understand exactly why it is that big a job. I was advised that the easiest way to change the bulb is to completely remove the front bumper Ignoring this advice, I did it as the manual suggests (sort of), although I ended up jacking the car up, removing the front wheels and ripping both my hands to shreds in the process In hindsight I wished I'd taken the advice.

Best bet is possibly to get a fixed price quote from a reputable mechanic who's never actually worked on a 225 before but values his reputation and quality of work.

thanks mate ive has a quick spy on ktec's web site they recen around 400 + vat so im going to shop around up my neck of the woods some more
