Metro runabout?

Looks like a works car or at least a lot of works bits on a Clubman.

Love group B cars.

That shot up as bit, only £500 on Monday.

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

I'd have to agree it's very suspicious. If you were selling something worth this much you'd post a bit more information than a generic description of the car from Wikipedia.

You guys are right. It may well be that the car is one that's been built from bits or that it has a doubtful history. One of these was even stolen from the compound at AR Motorsport in '86. It was later recovered but the world of motorsport is full of dodgy deals.

It's over here but too far north or I'd be tempted go and have a look see. As said it's got a lot of works bits on too.

IIRC the works cars were all sold off with the demise of group B minus there engines. People put a variety of other engines in them but there can't be many original engined cars out there if I'm right!

The works cars were all sold off complete, or in whatever state of completeness they were at the time of the demise of AR Motorsport. There were a few (less than 10) rolling shells sold off but these were just clubman cars that had been stripped at the factory to replace blown motors etc on the works cars. With 'show' cars added into the mix (these were clubman cars with Computervision paint jobs) the reality becomes even harder to establish.

Those cars fitted with other motors (RV8 is the only one I know of) were either made from bits or the rolling shells or from previously sold cars that had lunched their V64Vs which had a nasty habit of throwing cambelts.

Would you buy anything from someone who a) can't post the engine size on the listing and b) calls himself "toocoollyo"

I'd say that the vast majority of 6R4s have V64Vs in. Most are running 2.5s or 2.8s though, I would imagine. Very few will be equipped with other engines. Since the rear diff is bolted to the sump of the engine with a shaft through it, alternative engines aren't all that easy to do. Even the RV6 prototypes are pretty bespoke.

This one looks like a bit of a scam, though.

Must admit it looks a bit suspect. Just looked through his feed back as a seller, the most expensive thing they sold is a pair of U2 tickets for 180euro. How do you suddenly have a 6R4 for sale???? And really, on e-bay? surely there must be some more specialist web sites for these things. i know for sure if I was looking for one I would not be looking on e-bay
