fuel line connections

Hi, I would like to know which way around the fuel lines go on the fuel rail on my blacktop zetec. At the mo i have the supply from the injection pump connected to the open end of the rail and the return to the swirl pot connected to the end with the pressure regulator. also do i need to connect the vac pipe of the regulator to something

cheers
marcus

You can connect the vac pipe to the regulator to a manifold pressure outlet and then it will vary the fuel pressure with manifold vacuum/boost. This is what most people seem to do.

Alternatively you don't have to, as the map will look after all of that sort of thing.

There may be some small technical benefit (i.e. longer pulses at idle, less likely to get to the limits of your injectors) of letting the vacuum/boost affect the fuel pressure, but it also adds a little complexity.

I can't answer the first part as I don't know the fuel system you are talking about.

Probably worth including a high pressure fuel filter between the pump and the fuel rail.
