South east exhaust fabricators?
Hi, our MNR with R1 bike engine is always a bit of a challenge when it comes to yearly MOT and emissions. Does anyone have advice for someone who
could build and test a rear silencer and cat that would make our lives a bit easier? Ive heard a bit about vortex exhausts from the wheeler dealers
show and there seem to be a few suppliers near croydon so are they worth a shot?

a few years (4ish) back I had the can replaced on my pinto powered exhaust -

they did a great job fitting the can, raising the level of it and bending the pipe etc.
can't comment on now or if they could sort out emissions - that sounds like the ecu needs a tweak to me.
should have said they are in ashford, kent.

Simpson Exhausts would certainly be able to make the system....
I've used them a few times, no issues.

The exhaust design in general will not affect emission hugely on it's own unless you add a CAT or the CAT is not functioning and needs
replacing. The exhaust can affect noise level but not sure this is an MOT requirement. If you are struggling to pass emission then it is probably a
fueling issue and the ECU needs tuning or the lambda sensor is faulty or you have an inlet air leak. That said, I guess it could also be a cracked
exhaust pipe but you would easily be able to sense this (and hear it?).
Just a few thoughts, not worth spending loads on a bespoke new exhaust system to rectify an emissions fault when the problem is elsewhere in the
system. Get the basics right first and then tweak later.
Just my 2p's worth.

Thanks for responses so far. I will look into the recommendations.
Just to add I'm pretty sure fueling is ok as it had both a power and optimised air fuel setup for idle at PDQ and also had a few other service
bits done. It gets really close on emissions but the cat is an eBay special and the rear can has some blowing so I'd like to get both sorted by
a specialist who can recommend something that will help and saving a few dB's for trackday would be nice.
