Do you no longer have to renew Sorn?
I stripped a donor vehicle a few years ago & because of problems with DVLA in the past I never register vehicles as scrapped until I have used the
donor parts, hence it was "sorned" online in 2012 & again in 2013, I've just come to use the parts & realised I've not
been asked to declare Sorn since then.
Have DVLA stopped the requirement for re-declaring each year & is there a FREE way I can check whether the car is still registered to me &
Sorned? I've done the usual Google stuff, but can only find paid sites, being a tightwad I don't want to part with money unnecessarily!
Reg. is F624DDA & I have a second vehicle which I don't think has ever been registered to me E715 RBE, if there is any way of checking
whether that one has been registered as scrapped would be handy too
As usual, any info much appreciated!

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator
headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names
furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours.

If transfered previous sorn application expires and needs to be applied for by new keeper.

https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-tax
Looks like the first is sorned and the second has a nothing logged, not sure this helps to show you own them though

The first one (F reg) I have a V5 for, I was just a bit concerned perhaps I needed to have re-declared SORN.
The second one I only have a copy of the V5 in someone else's name, I'd really like to know if there is any way of telling if the DVLA
show the car as being scrapped as I had a considerable argument with them once when they decided because I'd scrapped the donor I couldn't
have an age related reg. They made me re-register the donor at a cost of £25 (despite it no longer existing!) & then agreed I could have an age
related plate! I want to avoid the same situation arising, particularly as it is all centrally based now & I don't suppose there is any
chance of readily speaking to a real person!
Why I didn't find the vehicle enquiry thing with Google I have no idea, I was sure there was something like that available

I would say I'm no expert on the legalities of SORN, however I have a car on which the tax, MoT and insurance expired on (2015). I never
declared it SORN myself (was in hospital), but the car is shown by the DVLA as SORN. It's stored on private land in a farm barn and I'm
not concerned about it's safety. Had I not been in hospital I would have declared it SORN on the assumption that you were meant to.

If you got a refund for your left over tax, sorn is done automatically as part of the refund process. If you just let it tax expire, its then that you
need to apply.

So I take it there is no way to check whether or not E715 RBE has been declared with DVLA as scrapped or not?

does it come up on a vehicle check? My assumption has been if it comes up then its not scrapped.

It comes up as untaxed & not MoT'd, & my initial reaction was the same as yours that if it's still on their database then one
would assume it's not marked as scrapped, however I also checked several registrations of previous donors that should defo be marked as scrapped
& they come up the same, so not a lot of help - typical DVLA really!

since 16 Dec 2013 you don't need to re-assert sorn on vehicles each year
nor do you need to show its insured when you tax it. however this is enforced by 'Continuous Insurance Enforcement'
