Quaife ATB Helical LSD Differential
Hi all
Have any of you fitted the above to your car, I am not going to be going on the track. As we are all aware of the cornering on the wet road I would
feel safer.
What are your experience and thoughts , off course its a lot of money as well.

I have one on a 7 kit and like it that said it has a peculiar feel when going into a roundabout fast, the rear feels initially as if it will oversteer
then the diff locks and you feel really planted. I took it to a handling day on an airfield and it felt natural at high and low speed corners.

The main "feature" of the ATB unit is that it doesn't lock, it Automatically Torque Bias(es) hence the name.
I have one now and have had them in the past too, so I'm a fan. For the use you describe though, I think you could probably spend ~£500-1000
(depending on which rear end you have) better elsewhere, depending on the rest of the spec of your car.

You just made my day, thanks for the reply.
You are spot on my thoughts are exactly the same. TBH I have spent a lot of time money finishing the spec to my liking I just want it to be safe on
the wet road particularly on the rainy days as we do get a lot it up north. is this going to sort it ?
If so I have to save up for it.

I wouldn't say an ATB would make it safer (or necessarily less safe) on a wet road. For me it was more about getting more grip on tight corners
on a circuit or on hairpin bends around the Alps etc. Without one it was very easy to spin an inside rear wheel, with one you can get on the power way
sooner.

I bought a complete diff from a racer who had 1 as a spare it cost me £350 10 years ago, normal cost was about £650
