Got my SVA booked for next friday at Gilllingham 8am. Got loads to do to get it 100%
Any one got a Mountney Steering wheel pad i can borrow ???
Need to put together a "SVA pack" any suggestions?
if that is your car in the avatar, will the air filter be ok? surely the dome of doom will catch on an edge or two there?
Planning on sticking some rubber edging round it for "just in case". Dont know what else i can do
Take it off for the test!
Can i do that then?
Just put a bit of mesh over the carb or something?
Are your indicators far enough out from the cone? Need to be a max of 400mm from the outside edge of the car (which may be the rear wheel arch if its
wider at the back).
I would agree with Coozer and take it off but you will need something to make the hole look less hole like. A bit of mesh as you suggest and some
edging strip perhaps? Need to watch the lack of filter wont throw your fuel settings and affect emissions.
Good luck

Got a friendly garage whos gonna check headlights, emissions, etc for me for a nominal fee.
I'll check the indicators, I need to make the tubes bigger diameter anyway.
Be aware that my examiner at Gillingham failed my steering wheel (non Sierra) as being a non type approved part.
I'd use the Sierra wheel and change when MAC in your hand.
Not going to expand on it as I've mentioned it in various threads over the years

id check the indicators and the filter...surely it would be alright with some rubber round the edges??
Got no choice on that one.....
Sierra one wont fit.
If your talking years ago, i'm not worried cos the examiner is different now apparently

Nervous times, I am due at Gillingham soon, hope everythings goes well for you, keep us posted. Barry
Good luck
Car looks pretty cool
Just had my SVA at Gillingham, tester was very fair and only took 2 hours to do the car. He let me adjust a few things on the day such as headlight adjustment. Failed on noise and emissions but nothing too serious. Retest on the 26th. All in all a fun day out. Good luck
Remove the air filter.I took mine off and used the
fine mesh from a frying pan splash guard
bought from wilko for a quid.it worked a treat and has been on ever since.

Wilky trip tomorrow
Thanks for the advise guys, i'll keep you posted.
Thing i'm worried about is the speedo, i cant get it close enough to

Re the steering wheel , why won't the Sierra wheel fit ? if it makes it difficult to drive it's less of a problem than fitting a standard mountney check out my SVA picks for the glamorous steering wheel on mine

Cos i cant get my knees in with the sierra one fitted
Hi Ben
Just sent you an U2U about the steering wheel.
For future reference.
To anyone taking their car for SVA
you need a standard Sierra one as a sports one is not type approved.
And will attract a fail
Just found out the hard way
