as per the title, for my build the handbrake is a pain, I either go to great effort to hide it, but then its rarely easy to use, or I need something proper smart

seen these online, just under £100 delivered, but look good

anyone got one, or used one, got any opinions or comments on them, this is a fortune to me, so if Im going to spend it, I need to be sure that its a decent product

I spent less money on the engine carbs, electrics and the sierra rear end all together than this handbrake lever LOL

There was a discussion recently on fitting hydraulic handbrakes or line lock devices. They tend to be much smaller and easier to place than cable operated ones - probably considerably cheaper than the trigger type you mention as well.

Out of curiosity, is a trike actually required to have a parking brake (I realise it would be hard work wthout one) or is it considered to be a motorbike?

(really showing my lack of bike knowledge, but I assume they have no form of parking brake?)

i think by scotts recent post, he's thinking of keeping his hydraulic Hbrake.

as long as a trike doesn't actually need to have a hand brake, i'd go with the 1/4 turn line lock.
if it does need a hand brake, it won't pass an MOT with a hydraulic one

Hydrualic handbrakes don't meet IVA, MOT or Construction & Use requirements for a parking brake.

Line locks are Highly Illegal for road use in the UK and traffic police are well aware of line locks and will be discovered if your vehicle is subject to a spot check.

rules clearly state mechanical

yes we require them for MOT and MSVA on trikes

they have to work on all the wheels on 1 axle, so you could a small cable operated spot caliper to the single wheel and that will be fine, or both wheels on a normal axle, as per my build

the trigger ones are very smart, stainless I think, range of mounting options

they are beautiful, but as I have discovered in the custom bike world, just becasue it looks good, doesnt mean that it is good

Hi, I have used the trigger handbrake to replace the standard sierra style on a Tiger Avon. I mounted it almost vertically on the LHS of the tunnel. Great bit of kit would certainly recommend it. Works well and was easy to mount.

Don't have any photos unfortunately.

It is expensive unless you get lucky, but in my view it did the job nicely.

ROFL at people flippin out about hydraulic handbrakes when it's not even what the OP has posted about!!

I thinks people have made an assumption as to what a 'trigger' hand brake is.

I've just been to the web site - they're cool (cable) handbrakes!

nope, the second post suggested a hydraulic handbrake, and thats how that started

I remember seeing them when I was building and it concerned me that they may get loose after a few goes and the teeth may slip aside the trigger tooth. Kinda form over function.
