Cheap mx5 parts
hughpinder - 18/2/09 at 09:15 AM

When I started designing my car I decided to use mx5 parts. I found a local specialist breakers (Kelsey cars - O1652 678825 - Mr Cook- they used to trade via ebay), and the guy there was very helpful, letting me make all sorts of measurements, and event taking bits off so I could measure up etc.
I popped in the other day as I was passing and found that he has stopped trading in mx5 parts (It was his sons business and he's now gone for a 'steady' job). He let me have the bits I wanted very cheap - a pair of front uprights, ball joints, track rod ends, brake calipes, some discs and pads (good enough for while I'm building) and a pair of handbrake cables for £50. Obviously in 'as taken off the car' condition. I got chatting and said I'd put a note here to see if there is any interest in anything. Its almost all mk1 stuff. In stock(big dry barn), at least a couple of sets of uprights, 2 or 3 sets front calipers, various rears, 3 or 4 diffs, a couple of complete engines, a few gearboxes, and all the other stuff you would expect(body panels, hardand soft tops....). He even has an almost complete car which just needs a softtop and a few minor thing (they were preparing it to sell as a complete car). 'Dad' isnt technical so you need to know what you want and how to identify it. Its about 45 mins round trip from me, and I could collect things and hold them for you(I'm about 6 miles from cadwell park), or possibly make a photo run if you want to see things, but I don't want to be going back and forth all the time or bothering to package and post stuff(Talk to them direct if you want it sent), so I'll say I'll go in about a week and take all the photos in one go, if theres any interest. I'd like 'cash in advance' if you want me to hold items for you (not whoe cars though!) - just agree a price first with mr Cook. I guess the best prices will be for cash if you turn up there. I think he would take quite a low price for the lot if you fancy a small business....) Obviously 'first to order gets it' if there are more orders than parts!
I'll check this post/u2us every day or so.
Regards
Hugh
