1969 Lotus Europa... Now With Pics!
scootz - 27/7/09 at 06:55 PM

Figured I've not been trying to flog enough things recently, so....

1969 Lotus Europa. No keys or paperwork, but I do have a letter from Lotus confirming that the cars current chassis / engine numbers are the originals and it also confirms the date of manufacture. A good starting point for obtaining an age related plate from DVLA (Tax Exempt) and meaning you can 'fiddle' with it and put it on the road with just an MOT (no pesky IVA's to deal with!).

Reason for selling - I have found a fresher one to restore!

Right... the car! Basically, a good solid base for building a great little buzz-bomb, but sold as requiring COMPLETE restoration. Gel coat has cracked and lifted in many places around the car. Mechanics / electrics need a good bit of sorting. Chassis could do with a clean and lick of POR15. Interior needs re-trimming. Passenger door is sticky.

The only obvious things missing are the rear-engine cover and the nearside wing mirror (both easily replaced). I'm sure there will be plenty of other bits gone AWOL, but most of it's there!

Very light little car and the handling is exceptional!

Looking for a £2k sale price - less than I paid , and very good VFM if this is what's you're after! I will not (cannot!) move on the price.

Just thought I'd advertise it here first to see if some other nutter wanted it before I put it back on the classic car ad scene whence it came!

These things look pretty ugly in pics, but honest - they are actually sooooo damn cool in the flesh... like a 60's version of the Exige! so, whet your appetite by drooling over some finished exotic Europa pics... THESE SILVER CARS ARE NOT THE CAR FOR SALE... OBVIOUSLY!

Nice

I'd love this, I have a friend whose dad crashed one best part of 25 years ago, fairly minor damage but it's been sat in his garage since. Will he sell it.....NO, as he's "going to gte round to it one day" - yeah right!!

big_wasa - 27/7/09 at 08:27 PM

Oh I so want one of them. I know where there is a gold one in a barn but the guy wont sell

Again no room , one day

scootz - 27/7/09 at 08:52 PM

What's this 'no room' thing that everyone keeps going on about? Surely you must have (or know someone who has) a garden, or a spare bedroom???

big_wasa - 27/7/09 at 09:20 PM

Your joking ive only just taken the wheels and body work out of the bedroom and given swimbo the storage back

scootz - 27/7/09 at 09:23 PM

I hope she was grateful!

big_wasa - 27/7/09 at 09:51 PM

No the power has gone to her head and she wants t put the drier in the garage.

As if

New g/f has just said ....

"its not very nice at the back"

I won't tell you what I said but I think me suggesting she goes on a diet didn't help matters

I had a twin- cam version back in the early seventies and loved it!
Like the idea of doing a bike engined version, sounds interesting.

A bloke I worked with had one and the rear wheel used to come off it regularly, really embarrassing. He used to call it the bread van

His had the fancy knock on wheel centre fastening, it was an option he wished he didn't have

scootz - 5/8/09 at 10:52 PM

Ah... explains everything!
